Judicial Institute for High School Teachers

June 25, 2014 (All day)

This three-day Institute for high school teachers,June 25-27, 2014, at the U.S. District Court of Western Washington in Seattle. Teachers from the western 19 counties in Washington are eligible for this no-cost program. Teachers will learn about the U.S. Constitution, federal and state judiciaries, and issues of civil rights, federal-state courts, and federal criminal law. This year the program features Mary Beth Tinker, plaintiff from the U.S. Supreme Court case that established free speech rights for students. For applicatons see:

iCivics Institute for Middle and Junior High Teachers

July 9, 2014 (All day)

Teachers from the 19 western counties in Washington are eligible to attend this no-cost, three-day Institute for teachers on July 9-July 11. Teachers will become proficient with the iCivics curriculum, launched by Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, which teaches civics using computer games and interactive strategies. In addition, teachers will learn about the U.S. Constitution, federal and state judiciaries, a criminal law.

Limited to 30 teachers, registration is done on a rolling bass. For application form, see:
