iCivics: Is Your School Using These Games to Teach Civics
iCivics is a web-based education project designed to teach student civics and inspire them to be active participants in our democracy. iCivics is the vision of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who is concerned that students are not getting the information and tools they need for civic participation, and that civics teachers need better materials and support. The games are fun and informative for adults as well. Check out these great learning tools on the iCivics web site.
In Washington state the effort to expose students and teachers to iCivics is led by Justice Mary Fairhurst of the Washington Supreme Court and by Margaret Fisher, a leader in public legal education. Enjoy watching as a teen takes you on a tour of one of the games, while Mary and Margaret explain the engagement strength of the iCivics initiative. TVW Video.
